Members in good standing are eligible to obtain special license plates displaying pride in their lodge. The instructions for each jurisdiction vary and are described below.
Washington DC Residents (Active Status Members)
Members must appear in person at FOP Lodge #1 with the following:
- Credentials / Agency ID
- Member's Driver's License
- Current or temporary vehicle registration card; vehicle must be registered under the FOP member's name.
- $25 application fee for each set of tags.
The member will have 30 days from the date the application is signed and issued by the tag coordinator to obtain the FOP tags and submit a copy of the updated registration card showing the number that was assigned by DMV, or it will be flagged.
A copy of the new registration with the FOP number assigned by the DMV may be sent to:

Please do not apply for tags if you do not plan on obtaining them within this time frame, since applications are only good for 30 days from the date issued.
MD "Law Enforcement Personnel" (LEP) Tag
Before an FOP DC Lodge 1 member can apply for tags, the member must have been a dues paying member in good standing for at least 6 months consecutively. To obtain the application for this tag the member must appear in person at the FOP lodge with the following:
- Credentials / Agency ID
- Driver's License
- Current or temporary vehicle registration card; vehicle must be registered under the FOP member's name.
- Copy of your insurance card; a hard copy must be presented, no electronic copies accepted.
- $25 application fee for each set of tags.
The member will have 30 days from the date the application is signed and issued by the tag coordinator, to obtain the LEP tags and submit a copy of the updated registration card showing the LEP number that was assigned by the MVA, or it will be flagged.
A copy of the updated registration with the FOP number assigned by the MVA may be sent to:

Please note that the LEP tag has replaced the tags with the FOP logo (the star emblem) and initials on it and that we are no longer authorized to issue those tags. If you currently have the tags with the FOP logo and a dues paying member in good standing you may continue to use them.
