MD License PlateMaryland has made available a new license plate specifically for law enforcement personnel living in the state. If you are a member of FOP DC Lodge #1 and your car is registered in Maryland, you need to prove eligibility before obtaining the new plate. You must apply for the tag through the Lodge with the following:

  • Copy of your Credentials / Agency ID
  • Copy of your Driver's License
  • Copy of your Insurance Card
  • Copy of your current Registration card (or Temporary registration card) showing that the vehicle is registered under your name.
  • $12 Application fee for each tag

Once you've met all criteria, you will be given an official approval document from FOP DC Lodge #1 to submit to the Maryland DMV with an application for the new tag (the DMV will determine your plate number.) Once you receive your new LEP tag, you will have 30 days to provide a copy of the new registration card to FOP DC Lodge #1 showing that the tag is registered under your name name or you will be flagged. In addition, you must be an FOP DC Lodge #1 member for at least 6 months and in good standing before applying for an organizational tag. There will be no exceptions.

Attention ASSOCIATE & AUXILIARY Members who Reside in Maryland

The new "Law Enforcement Supporter" (LES) organizational tag is in the final stage of approval; however, we need 25 applications in order to proceed and so far we only have 10. This organizational tag will be available to Associate and Auxiliary members of the DC FOP Lodge. If you wish to be one of the first 25 applicants, please follow the instructions below. As soon as we receive 25 applications, they will be mailed to MVA and it will take approximately 6 to 8 weeks for them to process these applications. Please note that each application must be accompanied by $37.00 ($25 Logo Fee for MVA and $12 Application fee for the Lodge), since the lodge will be taking care of the paperwork for the first 25 applicants.

Once the tags are available for the rest of the membership, we will send another notification via email with instructions as to how to go about applying for them. There is no exact time frame on how long this process may take, but we will do our best to keep you informed.

The Associate or Auxiliary Member who wishes to obtain the LES tag must appear in person at the FOP lodge with the following:

  • Copy of their Driver's License
  • Copy of their Insurance Card
  • Copy of their current or temporary vehicle registration card (vehicle must be registered under the FOP member’s name)
  • $37 Processing fee for each set of tags (only cash, personal checks or money orders are accepted)

The FOP member must provide a copy of the new registration card once they receive the tags or it will be flagged. A Copy may be sent to:
